Application Process

Admissions season begins January 2012.

We suggest that applicants come to The Sage School to meet with teachers before applying. After an initial interview, the applicant may be invited for a classroom visit, during which they spend a full school day engaging with and getting to know teachers, other students, and the Sage rhythm. These classroom visits give the applicant an opportunity to fully participate in and experience a day in the life of a Sage student. It also allows us to get to know the applicant on both personal and academic levels. During the visit, applicants participate in an informal interview with a member of the staff. In addition, we ask that parents meet with a department head to discuss their student’s strengths and weaknesses.

Financial Aid

We understand and appreciate the financial commitment families undertake in deciding to send their children to The Sage School. Although paying for education is first and foremost  the responsibility of a family, we devote significant funds each year to a financial aid budget that helps assist families. In turn, our school community benefits by attracting gifted students who would otherwise not have been able to attend. To help us objectively assess what a family is able to contribute to its student(s) education expenses, we use School and Student Services (SSS By NAIS) as a trusted third party. The SSS analysis of a family’s “Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)” is a critical component of our financial aid decision. However, it is just a start. To make our final financial aid award decisions, we use the SSS figures as the baseline for our own additional review, taking into consideration our total financial aid budget, other information we may have collected, our school’s policies and priorities, and the needs of our entire applicant pool. Due to circumstances like these, and others, our school may ask your family to contribute more or less to tuition than what is estimated on the SSS Family Report.

An additional path for financial aid is the Tina Fabiano Memorial Scholarship, which was established in memory of beloved Ketchum resident, Tina Fabiano. Tina’s efforts on behalf of the children of Blaine County were many and varied, and it is the hope of Tina’s family and friends that this scholarship will carry on her lifelong commitment to children and education. Scholarship awards and amounts will be determined by the faculty and staff of The Sage School, and will be based on need and fit to the mission and philosophy of The Sage School.
